Slåttetradisjonen tolket gjennom modulær synth
Egil Kalman spiller Norske og Svenske slåtter på modulærsynth. Musikken hans trekker paralleller mellom folkemusikk og moderne elektroakustisk musikk via minimalistiske komposisjonsteknikker og sjelfulle improvisasjoner. Ved bruk av renstemming, hypnotiske former, syntetisert lyd som etterligner det akustiske og omvendt, utforsker han elementer fra tradisjonell skandinavisk folkemusikk og setter det i et nytt lys. Musikken fremføres live på modulære synther.
Det Grammis-nominerte albumet ‘Nordafjells’ (i kategorien beste folkemusikk), der fokuset ligger på slåtter i den sterke Setesdalstraditionen, ble gitt ut på Supertraditional i November 2025.

Egil Kalman performs Norwegian and Swedish traditional music on modular synthesizers. His music draws parallels between folk music and modern electroacoustic music through minimalist compositional techniques and soulful improvisations. By using just intonation, hypnotic forms, and synthesized sounds that mimic the acoustic, and vice versa, he explores elements of traditional Scandinavian folk music and presents them in a new light.
The Grammis-nominated album “Nordafjells” (in the category Best Folk Music), which focuses on tunes from the strong Setesdal tradition, was released on Supertraditional in November 2025.
