Folkejazz-bandet Rigla er rusket sammen av unge musikere fra ulike landsdeler, med utspring i diverse musikkhøyskoler. De seks musikerne har sammen truffet et ømt punkt hvor utforskning, undring og lek snøres sammen i en eventyrlysten balansegang. Navnet Rigla kommer fra dialektordet “riglafengje”, som i Sunnmørstraktene betyr “ustø” eller “vaklevoren” - noe som gjenspeiler sekstetten sine røffe og underfundige tekster og deres nærmest laboratoriske tilnærming til sjangermøter. Rigla har utviklet en helt egen sound og stil gjennom nøye blanding av ulike doser tradisjonsmusikk, jazz og visepop kombinert med en unik besetning bestående av vokal, fele, skasofon, synth, cello, trommer og kontrabass.

The folk-jazz band Rigla is a raucous ensemble formed by young musicians from different parts of Norway, with roots in various music conservatories. Together, the six members have struck a tender chord where exploration, curiosity, and playfulness intertwine in an adventurous balancing act.

The name Rigla comes from the dialect word “riglafengje”, which in parts of Sunnmøre means “unstable” or “wobbly”—a reflection of the sextet’s rough-edged and whimsical lyrics, as well as their almost laboratory-like approach to genre-blending.

Rigla has developed a truly distinct sound and style by carefully combining various doses of traditional music, jazz, and acoustic pop, all shaped by their unique lineup of vocals, fiddle, saxophone, synth, cello, drums, and double bass.
